Why become S-ITSF-certified?

Economic globalisation is leading to an ever-increasing exchange of information between organisations (including employees, customers and suppliers) and, consequently, an explosion of cyber crime. The dramatic rise in cyber attacks, in turn, results in a growing demand for certified security specialists:

"By 2017, there will be a shortage of 2 million cyber security jobs worldwide" — UK House of Lords, Digital Skills Committee

Information security rests on three pillars: people, processes and technology. The IT-Security world uses its own specific tools and jargon. This technical jargon may be quite difficult for people with a non-technical background. This course introduces you to the main technical tools and the related vocabulary in an accessible way.

For whom is the S-ITSF certification?

The IT-Security Foundation certifcation (S-ITSF) is suitable for those who need to demonstrate basic technical knowledge and familiarity with IT security concepts, such as NAT, DPI or VPN. For instance:

  • Upcoming information security professionals
  • IT-Auditors
  • Service Management staff
  • Helpdesk staff

Finally, this certificate is an ideal start for new IT-security professionals, as it constitutes the first level of a complete and extensive Certified IT-Security Officer certification track. Achieving the IT-Security Foundation certificate provides students with a solid base to continue with the IT-Security Practitioner certificate, and advance their career path to become a CITSO. Students who already possess basic IT security knowledge can decide to start with the Practitioner and/or Expert level of the certification track.
